Sequential, the American Synthesizer company founded by Dave Smith in 1974, is celebrating its 50th birthday this year in style with the release of the Prophet-10 special edition. While it is virtually identical to the regular Prophet-10 released in 2020 from a technical standpoint, there is something unique about this special edition. In addition to being limited to only 150 units worldwide, the Prophet-10 Special Edition boasts distinctive lacewood panels. These are not only beautiful but also individual to each instrument, which, according to Sequential, will serve as a constant source of exotic inspiration.

The Prophet-10 Special Edition has the same analog circuitry as the original Prophet-10, meaning it offers the same legendary sound. Each also comes with a certificate of authenticity to prove that the owner is part of one of the most exclusive clubs in the world of synthesis. Finally, each one also ships with an embroidered dust cover to ensure it remains well-protected. 

Whether the exotic lacewood is worth the bump in price compared to the standard Prophet-10 with its premium black walnut heartwood body and trim is up to buyers to decide.
